Rules On How To Play
Jokers Wild Poker

Play Jokers Wild Online, Live, Now

Jokers Wild is played with a 53-card deck, the regular 52-card deck plus a joker. Most standard decks do come with a joker. The joker is a wild card, which means, it can be used as any card you want. This increases the chance of getting a winning combination. On average the joker appears in about one out of every ten hands. With a joker in the deck, Jokers Wild Poker a uniquely different game.

It is not necessary to have a joker in order to play wild card style poker. The house, or the dealer in a friendly game, can declare, before the cards are dealt, any card a wild card... such as in Deuces Wild Poker.

In video jokers wild, five cards are dealt face up. The objective is to hold your best cards for completing a winning hand. You discard the cards you do not want. By clicking on the card, or or on the "Hold" button at the bottom of each card (depending on the style of video jokers wild video poker machine or software), means you will keep that particular card. Click on ALL the cards you want to keep. When ready, click on "Deal"

The dealer will replace the cards you failed to keep. If you are lucky, and play

smart, you'll have a winning hand, which will payout according to how much you have bet and what winning hand you now hold (if you hold one).

Strategy For Winning At Jokers Wild Poker

If the hand you’re dealt contains the joker: Keep all hands that are three-of-a-kind or higher, except hold four cards to the royal flush, even if it means discarding a paying hand of lower value.

(Always remember that the joker is part of the combination you’re looking for, for example two sevens and the joker equals three-of-a-kind).

Keep any four-card straight flush and a four-card flush if it includes K, A or both.
Keep three cards to a royal flush
Keep a paying pair of high cards (King, Joker or Ace, Joker).
Keep any three cards to a straight flush.
Keep any four-card flush without King or Ace.
Keep consecutive four-card straights If not dealt any of the above, keep the Joker only.

If you’re dealt a hand without the Joker:
Keep all paying hands, except hold a four-card royal flush.
Keep any four cards to a straight flush and any three cards to a royal flush.
Keep four cards to any flush.
Keep any pair of 2’s to Queens.
Keep any three cards to a straight flush.
Keep any four-card consecutive straight.
Keep two cards to a royal flush if one of the cards is a Ace or King.
Keep unsuited King and Ace.
Keep King or Ace alone.
Keep two suited royal flush cards lower than King or Ace. If you’re not dealt any of the above, draw five new cards.

How Poker Hands Are Ranked

(Or How To Figure Out Who Wins A Poker Hand)

Below is a table that ranks poker hands from the top hand, that always wins, to the lowest hand that can win.

The cards themselves are ranked according to the value of the number on the card or the value of the face. The ranking, from highest to lowest, goes as such: Ace (A), King (K), Queen (Q), Jack (J), 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2. The ace can also be used to complete a low straight; A, 2, 3, 4, 5. As well as numbers and faces there are 4 different types of suits which are used to determine the value of a poker hand. These are: Spades, Clubs, Diamonds and Hearts. The color suit of Hearts and Diamonds is red. The color suit of Spades and Clubs is black.

Tie Hands - Who Wins?

If two hands are tied in rank, the following rules apply:

1) If two players both have straight flushes, flushes, or straights, the highest card that is part of the hand determines the winning hand. If the highest card still results in a tie then the next highest card will determine the winner. And so on...

2) If both players have a full house, then the highest 3 of a kind will determine the winner.

3) If both players have three of a kind the highest ranking three of a kind will be determined the winner.

4) The highest-ranking pair in the hand will decide two hands with two pair. If this still results in a tie then the remaining pairs will be compared and the highest-ranking pair will then decide the winner.

5) If both players have a single pair then the highest-ranking pair will win. If this is also a tie then next highest-ranking single card will determine the winner. If this still results in a tie then the next highest single ranking card will determine the winner.

6) Two hands with no pairs, flushes, or straights are compared and the card with the highest ranking single card will be determined the winner. If this still yields no winner then the next highest card will be determined the winner. And so on.

Payout For Jokers Wild Video Poker

The payout in jokers wild video poker depends on two factors:

1) How much you bet, the ante, before the video game deals the cards. The more you bet, the higher the payout for a winning hand.

2) The ranking of a winning hand. The table above applies to winning hands, IE, a royal flush pays more than a straight flush; a straight pays more than 2 pair and so on.

3) Some video poker games using wild cards require a minimum of 3 of a kind in order to have a winning hand. Check the video game payout display to find out.
